“There’s no doubt in my mind that the reason [the police] were called is because they were African-American. And I’m embarrassed by that. I’m ashamed of that. That’s not who Starbucks is, that’s not who we’ve been, and that’s not who we’re going to be,” Schultz sayspic.twitter.com/hu4cf3AZVY

Why would the two targets of her racism - the two Black Men - 'sit down' with the white women who called the cops with every intention of removing them while giving wide latitude and deference to the white customers when sitting down and not ordering immediately from the menu?

Why is it that white people speak with the presumption that Blacks are expected to 'sit down' with their societal tormentors, bigots, and casual racists for the benefit of 'making peace' and educating that person? Where was that goodwill when the transgression was committed?

The two blacks arrested were so used to being oppressed that they were utterly cool at this latest racist outburst against them. They almost appeared bored but must have been surpressing their anger. The won the day with passive resistance. MLK would be pleased.

Parents are telling their kids to be safe. This could have been a HUGE tragedy if they had even reached for their phone! POC should not have to live this way. They put on stoic face & tried to stay alive. May God bless them.

There are programs that teach young minority kids on how to deal with the police. Its sad that it has gotten to this point

Yes. We shouldn't have to teach our children how to behave in public...just due to their color. A sad commentary on our present situation. Thank you.

Unfortunately it’s always been like that. My mother taught me when I was 4 years old how to deal with police & white people in general.

How come they didn't call the police on the other black customers in the store? Then it's not about race

I want full disclosure. I want punishment, apology, $ and promise this will never happen again to any race or religion. This was ugly! Hand cuffed! Treated like a criminal. But if they were starting trouble I want to know that

1 man asked to use the restroom. Told he had to make a purchase first. They were waiting for someone, he went back to his seat. The mgr told them to leave for loitering. They declined to leave. Mgr. called police. They were arrested. Other white loiterers were confused. The end.

Why would this manager need to have POLICE talk to the men about what they were doing or why they were there? Couldn't she have done that HERSELF? Waiting a few minutes for a friend isn't a crime! It seems it's only 'tresspassing' when blk ppl are the ones hanging around!

The best way to curb this type of racism is to have a diverse staff, specifically more black people employed at your business, additionally in leadership positions.

The employee actions was despicable. CEO came out quick and trying to change things. Give them a chance to correct. You can’t control every employee actions but you can control how you respond to it. Give them the space to do it.

Black people are tired. For each event that is captured on tape, there are countless others that occur daily that aren’t public! We have the right to be disgusted and tired of waiting for white people to change...it’s systemic and exhausting
