It was the barista who had a Trumpian infused racial bias (or one she’s always had) and called police because 2 black men were sitting in Starbucks w/o ordering. 8 officers showed up. Starbucks for its own PR should fire the barista and have some sensitivity training in place.

The Philadelphia police commissioner and his officers need some intense workshops about what is and is not a threat. 2 black men sitting in a coffee shop chatting is not a threat.

Starbucks employee made the 911 call, but the police should have used discretion and NOT ARRESTED the 2 men.

Dear competing coffee establishments to
@Starbucks. Now is the time to make a commercial/ad saying "We have great coffee for less, free wifi & we're not racist." You're welcome@TheCoffeeBean@dunkindonuts@McDonalds@peetscoffee@CostaCoffee@laughingmanco - 1 more reply

I don’t see a need to
#BoycottStarbucks or to blame the police officers. The clear bias & possible racist motive comes from the baristas, the people who single out people of color, unnecessarily escalate situations & call police. These people are you & me, if we’re truly honest. -
Speak for yourself. There are plenty of people who can honestly say we do not “single out people of color, unnecessarily escalate situations and call police”.
-
I do speak for myself, and am honest enough and understanding of reality to say that while I abhor racism and would not call police in any instance like this I also carry SOME inherent racially-based prejudice & have been influenced by societal norms that should be unacceptable.
-
Looking at that inherent prejudice more honestly, trying to understand why the baristas would act so callously & irresponsibly as to call police (as much as I share the rage & despair at seeing this video) could actually help on a broad scale. Understanding WHY/HOW this happened.

CBS News would do a better job if they reported how there were other people in the same Starbucks that were also there without buying anything.

I call BS! They were not trespassing. They were waiting on another person(s) before ordering. This would have been a great opportunity for the use of discretion. They had committed no crime, caused no disturbance, did not enter the premises illegally or break any rules.
-
The issue is, it's a business and they can ask you leave. You can call their management offices if you are upset, but once the police are called you will be removed, either by leaving or in cuffs. The broke the rules when they refused to leave.
