You mean the loud & clear warning that Trump gave made this attack pointless?!?

Destroying air bases and infrastructure with minimal civilian casualties actually sounds optimal to me.
-
Absolutely! Minimal loss of life is ideal. Of course they've had days to move the chemicals/weapons as well. He gave a heads up 4 days ago & a firm warning, in writing on an international platform, 2 days ago... So there's that.
-
True, but it's harder to move runways and military infrastructure used to launch the chemical weapons. Chlorine gas is cheap and easy to make. Infrastructure... Not so much. (I'm not a Trump supporter by any means, but I don't think his warning of the attack was out of line)
-
I don't think broadcasting that "we're coming" is a smart tactic. Too much advanced warning puts too many parts into motion. We've bombed air strips & military installations already, all it's done is slow down the attacks. Even if it barely made a difference, it didn't help.
-
Even if you were a supporter, you're not being belligerent so it's all good.

Maybe because of this...https://twitter.com/realdonaldtrump/status/984022625440747520?s=21 …

Was all orchestrated by Russia for our benefit to make it appear Russia will counter attack.

Of course. But the Trumpanzees will thump their chests and massage their tiny boners with pride because...USA! USA! USA!

Golly gee whiz, I wonder why they’d been evacuated earlier this week...
-
I’m glad the people were evacuated. I’d prefer loss of the chemical precursors and factories, with as few casualties as possible. We need to decimate Assad’s ability to conduct chemical warfare, not the Syrian people.
-
Anything important to Assad's weapons programs would surely have been moved too. They had more than enough warning.
-
You think so? I would have expected there to be large, fixed machinery, difficult to move in a couple of days, but I have no knowledge on the subject and would like to know more.

That makes sense. Well, I hope this isn’t a total waste of resources and lives.
-
Of course it is
-
I wouldn’t be surprised. I’m just trying to hold to a little hope here, for the sake of Syrian innocents.
