Why are there textbooks from 1982 being used in 2018?

It looks like an English reader. Why throw it out if still in good condition?

Why do you still have a book? * One tablet can hold over 300 text books * The tablet can be automatically updated with the current data * One tablet can cost less than $50.00 * No trees 🌳 will be killed to make a tabletpic.twitter.com/BVIwK97gpS

It’s a fucking READER for a first grader. What difference does it make if it’s 35 years old. As long as it’s not falling apart, it can still serve its function. I understand the funding issues, but this story is not relevant to them.

What if the textbook was still usable, in good shape and was still relevant..? I mean if it's basic math - that stuff doesn't change much.. 🤷🏻‍♂️

The method of teaching math has changed tons since then.

But did the method change for the better? I learned basic algebra from a book written in the 50s. It was better than anything I used when I was in high school.

Old textbooks are badly worn and frankly, unhygienic pits of germs. Your book didn’t have thirty seven different users at the Petri dish/ germ factory age. Looks like you don’t have kids.

This from someone with a pussyhat on their profile? And referring to children as “Petri dishes”. Dehumanize much?

I understand the funding issues facing education in our countries - but what’s wrong with a used book? It’s called recycle, reuse, environmentally and economically friendly! I had a lot of used textbooks in my day!
