"This is a jail -- this is not a bed and breakfast," says sheriff who purchased beach house with funds meant for inmates. "If you're used to eating grandma's fried chicken, ordering pizza several times a week, you're not going to be happy." https://cbsn.ws/2INH2bA pic.twitter.com/q1qbJfWowT

Actually, I have no problem with him saving tax payer money by providing inmates meals (as long as nutritionally complete) at a savings. I have a HUGE problem with him pocketing the savings. He stole taxpayers money.

That's his excuse for spending it on a private beach house? Not equipment or technology, not an upgrade to the police station but a private beach house?

So instead of providing adequate nourishment he bought a house, and thanks to WW2 era laws it's legal. Another cop who doesn't see inmates as human beings.

Sheriff Bubba should not be using taxpayer money to buy himself a beach house. I don't give a damn what some obscure old law allows. It's unethical and immoral.

He needs to go to jail for embezzlement. No more grandma's fried chicken or pizza twice a week for him.

Its been a while since I took a government accounting class, but I think using dedicated funds for another purpose is illegal. Using it for a personal use is called embezzlement.
