Always assume they do. It’s parents responsibility to teach and train their kids proper firearm handling and safety.

Agreed.. If you must have them.. The household must be educated and trained
-
Exactly... not to mention that it also removes the allure of them, when they’re over at their friend’s house.

Growing up I always knew where my Dad and brother's guns were. My Dad would show me the guns and explain what they were used for. Show me how to clean them. I would have never touched them without permission. He taught me to respect them.

You were a 'GOOD LIL GURL. Not all of them are! Especially nowadays. PROOF? Accidental shootings by one sibling upon the other. MORE PROOF? Fourth-grader bring his daddy's S&W .357 to school. It's discovered when it drops from his lunch kit when trying to retrieve his PB&J.pic.twitter.com/a0Tu22AYBr

Most parents would say that kids don’t know where they hide the Christmas gifts either.

I can say that when I was growing up, my father had 2 shotguns. I knew where they were, I knew where the shells were, and I would never have touched them. My sister, however, was a different story. You can’t put that burden on children. It isn’t their responsibility.

I don't assume they know, I am positive they know where they are. I am also sure they can't and don't have access to them. That's what safes, trigger locks, cable locks and lock boxes are for. We spend money on guns and ammo spend a few bucks more and secure every firearm you own

I knew where they were and had access, but I was taught responsibility and the consequence if I shot anyone. This is a parenting issue

This is like the guy who told me his two year old “knew better” than to touch a gun. Do some reading on child development and then come back to the conversation.

Every kid is different, I guess I had more maturity when i was young. But I would say 2 years is a bit young in these matters.
