I think we can all agree that teachers are underpaid and under appreciated.

What is the issue date of 1998 in the top right corner about?
-
That line actually refers to the year her teaching certificate was issued, not the date the $35,621 salary was effective.
-
Great, Thanks.

They're expected to teach and help raise up decent human beings, and now, dodge bullets. Not nearly enough.

As a former student of 11 Southern Arizona Public Schools, I can confirm--they're all broke and angry, just like the rest of us.

What happened to Liberals who always says "it's all bout the kids"? This is America if you think you're underpaid then get a better job! You're not forced to work there! They didn't knock on your door "work for us" you applied you knew what you were going to make!
-
Let's take politics out of the discussion. Would you be able to feed and clothe yourself, pay rent and own a car, for that kind of money? Never mind the stress of the job, long hours, not to mention some nut might wander in and shoot you and the kids? Don't blame liberals.
-
You get what you pay for. If you want better teachers, pay more. If you want greedy companies treating your kids like little dollar signs, privatize the public schools.
-
This is how old I am that I remember when teachers were out for the summer they worked another job to have the finer things in life they didn’t look for someone else to fix it for them
-
There's more pressure on teachers than ever before. Public schools have less resources, and teachers have to pick up the slack. Nobody wants to pay the taxes needed to keep a good school system going. People think taxes are evil, so much so that they don't pay a fair share.
-
please don`t want to hear that. my daughter is a school teacher, she does pitch in some things but not thousands of dollars. use the extra money that they get for education towards extreme pension plans

The “average” teacher begs parents for supplies. The “average” para professional? Teachers aide? So poorly paid and poorly trained we can’t keep them in special ed classrooms. They go work for minimum wage or for behavioral health agencies. Ask a parent. Please.
