A disturbing image of one family's French bulldog puppy, dead in its carrier, has sparked outrage on the internet. A @united flight attendant allegedly forced the passengers to put the dog in an overhead bin. United later apologized for the incident. http://cbsn.ws/2GqOoRF pic.twitter.com/PGd7CYNnR9

It's not the airline fault. It's the owner's fault. She have a responsibility for that dog and was negligent. If she wanted to go so bad she should have taken the bus

I Read the whole article, more info needed, like all of the witness accounts. According to a witness, the woman told the FA a dog was in the bag. The article says the FA didn't know a dog was in it, so she told boldface lie. FAs are face of the airlines, so this one should go.

And she left the dog in the bag and then put the bag in the overhead bin? Too cheap to buy a ticket for the dog or put the dog in cargo? She was the person responsible for the life of that dog. She was negligent

flying dogs in cargo is not safe. She paid for it to be in the cabin under the seat.

How can a company that is supposed to ensure safety and comfort for all passengers think that an apology is enough. It’s not. We demand change!

GREEDY CORPORATIONS need to be held accountable for outrageous behavior & be sued or fined. Wondering how United is going to "make it right" for this customer.

There is a complete lack of compassionate awareness in this case. This is criminal behaviour and should be addressed as such.

Humane treatment is already in place. If they followed the rules by putting the dog into an approved carrier that fit under the seat, this wouldn't have happened. They could have gotten off the plane.

The TSA-approved carrier should never be placed in an ovehead bin. The flight attendant insisted. The attendant is the proximate cause and therefore responsible for the death.

Agreed. I can’t understand why none of the other flight attendants did anything to help the dog, or just behaved like decent human beings. #BoycottUnitedAirlines

You read my mind. Sadly, we seem to be seeing a lot of that in this country lately. The image of this pup dead in his carrier will always be a reminder of @united and their disregard for their customers and their pets.

Questions: did the passenger not tell the flight attendant that she had a dog in her carry-on bag? when she put the bag up there did she not hear all the snoring noises that Frenchies make? (I had one and know how loud they are)And did the dog not cry or make any noise? 😡😡😰😰

I would not have boarded and instead would have asked for their manager - I have traveled with my dog and there are rules and none of them say that a dog has to go in the overhead bin and even if the flight attendant says she did not know there was a dog in the bag -

This reeks to me that no one, the flight attendant or the owner, knew the full rules and procedures. I feel as an owner I would’ve done as much research as possible and spoken to people about what happens if I ever flew with my dog.

I have flown internationally with my dog and I spent a lot of time researching the rules. Because it is complicated to travel with a pet, I have always selected direct flights and have read the reviews of the pet owners on which airlines to avoid.
