They couldn't get out of harness, but the pilot could. Which leads to more questions.

Well it seems by accidentally flipping an emergency fuel switch , the chopper lost power and it flipped over on the east river . The east river is a dangerous place to die as it has Swift currents and the water is frigid.

This is heartbreaking for so many reasons. These victims were incredibly young. Condolences to the families and friends.

Wait. How did they die?
-
They were securely strapped in and the helicopter started to sink. Sounds like drowning
-
Did the harness not have quick releases, seat belts? Did the captain not render assistance. A 737 can sit down in the same water and no one dies but a splash down in a chopper and everyone does.. Doesn’t make sense imo
-
A plane has a hollow belly and wings. It floats. A helicopter is top heavy. It’ll always flip over. Nothing sinister here, just common sense.
-
10+ second at least after impact. Priority wasn’t to GTFO with that knowledge? Why land in water if common sense
-
The harnesses, tangles straps and metal clasps that let tourists lean out over the skyline became traps. They wear these because the helicopter has no doors. Also, if your engine randomly shuts off you’re going to land wherever the hell you can
-
It appears to be a controlled splash down imo. So some sort of power. Agree limited control but damn. With the harness traps top heavy etc just a controlled suicide. If I go down hopefully it’s a building not water

my first reaction after seeing the victims are that they are all so young
there’s no reason why they couldn’t evacuate if everything was functioning normally. there needs to be an investigation on why their seatbelts didn’t let them out?? so terrible.Thanks. Twitter will use this to make your timeline better. UndoUndo
