Teachers in Oklahoma could be the next to go on strike over low wages. Educators there are the 2nd lowest paid in the U.S., and some schools switched to a 4-day school week to try to make up for low pay: http://cbsn.ws/2FxKTe0 pic.twitter.com/fZaSYW3OBB

All the rural area schools I know of here have switched to four days, but not for teacher's pay. They have contracts. It's because we can't afford utilities, bus/fuel, supplies...etc. We also don't have ANY art or music programs.

If we get rid of the Department of Education and leave that $69 billion with the states and let them control their own education systems it would be a good start.

But yes, let’s build a wall worth 20 billion when that money could be used towards education. Priorities in this country are ass backwards

The kids coming out of the Oklahoma school system can't be any dumber than they already are. Let them strike.

It’s time for Oklahoma teachers to get paid what you’re worth, or st least closer to what you’re worth

Low pay goes with the low cost of living.

Oklahoma starting teacher salary: $31,000. That’s not a living wage especially considering college loans. Try again.

It’s more than the avg person makes in that state, and that’s only starting salary. Try again.

That just reveals how bad Oklahoma is. It’s time to turn things around. Education of our nation’s children should count for far more than that. Again, Oklahoma is 2nd LAST. Try again

The most underpaid, under appreciated, unsafe & undesirable damn job. & only to TRY to educate a bunch of brats that'll probably end up getting shot anyway. Helping never helps teachers, helping never helps. Learn it & leave.

Teachers consider their wage low, it is a 15k to 20k more than national poverty level. I now folks that live on 14k a year.

Oklahoma it’s cheaper to live than WV. I don’t get why they think they need the extra money if it’s cheaper to live. They just gonna buy random stuff with it again?

They went to 4 day school week because of drastic budget cuts by the state- NOT because of teachers.
