Arkansas Republican Gov. Asa Hutchinson says the prevention of mass shootings like the one in Parkland, Florida, should be the responsibility of states and localities instead of the federal government. http://cbsn.ws/2GIOKC2 pic.twitter.com/SNeOrONNTq

Easy to respond to the Governor. States have not stopped lone shooters in schools, in fact, they have increased. If you don't do the job, we take the job away from you. Even during your interview, you have no answers.

Would some lawmaker please listen. We have a federal building protection model in place that has worked well for over twenty years since Oklahoma City bombing. Just retrofit it to schools. Use money from Trump's parade and Wall to help pay for outlying schools.

Really Arkansas? You decided people could buy a gun without a permit and now you're number five in gun deaths. You think that's what the rest of us want to emulate?

Localized gun control does not work. See: Chicago. Only nationwide solutions work. That said, states can do much more to streamline reporting of threats.

What? Doesn't he 'know' the 2nd Amendment 'is' written in the U.S. Constitution, which 'confirms', validates & 'legally' justifies it 'is' a national problem, which warrants 'both' state & federal legislation. As 'governor' he ought to know this, esp b/c many many states involved

Another typical Republican thought to support Trump and the NRA. The NRA loves this stuff as they can fight each of the 50 states and drag this out for years. What happens at the Arkansas border @AsaHutchinson? #RememberInNovember

The problem is that people keep saying this...one state outlaws assault, weapons and another sells them so they can be taken over state lines. The Rs re pushing for Federal conceal and carry...that’s not States decision at all

Arming the teachers is not a solution. Are they going to keep the firearm locked and unloaded or keep it on their person and loaded? An arm guard hid outside the school in Florida FFS! What makes you think a teacher is going to do any better?

Certainly we can see what great job they're doing. GOP leaders often speak without any facts to support their lies.
