If I had a hand gun, do you think for one moment I would have gone against a AR-15? Not. This is about gun control.

So full-time fully trained law enforcement professionals were reluctant to do the very same thing Mr Trump thinks would be easily managed by full time teachers with some military experience and an occasional refresher course?
#TeachersWithGuns -
While that officer stood outside and did nothing, an unarmed teacher advanced toward the shooter and shielded his students. That unarmed teacher died protecting his students. What could that teacher have done, if he had been allowed to carry a handgun at school?
-
Well, statistically, probably not much. A handgun (in a crowd) vs an AR 15...extremely unlikely the handgun would win out.
-
In a crowd, inside, the length of an AR-15 can be a negative for the person using it. This is why SWAT teams commonly have rifles with barrels shorter than 16 inches (which have been heavily restricted for private citizens, since 1934). It becomes a question of training and luck.
-
Does it become a negative because it affects the ability to hit an intended target? This is the first time I've heard that and I'm genuinely interested.
-
Try picking up an 8 foot long piece of lumber and walking from one room in your home to another with it. Then try holding it near one end and pointing the other end at things. This is an exaggeration of the problem, but it illustrates it. AR-15s are a lot longer than handguns.
-
It has been my understanding that the AR 15 is very easy to carry and use? I've never held one, so I'm just basing it off of what I've read from people who own them.
-
AR-15 is easier to carry than some other rifles, but is not the lightest rifle available. In a form that does not require extensive federal paperwork to buy, the shortest AR-15 rifle is still going to be close to 3 feet long. A Glock pistol for concealed carry is about 7 inches.

So the student ran into the school to save his girlfriend, he ran passed the police officer hiding holding a gun in hand, 2 coaches ran into the building to save lives while police officers stayed outside the building with guns

A lot of people use the term “I would die for”. Statistically, more guns are not the answer.

The sheriff sets the tone that the deputies follow.May be unwritten.THE sheriff is history. Just a matter of time. Men with hand guns would have made a difference. Lives would have been saved. Those deputies knew the risk and did not perform. NOW THEY CAN LIVE WITH IT.
-
Most departments issue either a shotgun or a rifle for the deputy to keep in their vehicle. Seems likely that those deputies had more than just handguns in their cars. AR-15 seems to be the most popular rifle for departments to issue to their officers.
-
They also had suprise on their side. Would have distracted shooter. Just no excuse. Sheriff should be fired.
