If they are profitable investments, why the hell not? The plans need all the help they can get these days. Media trying to “shame” them wont work. Their duty is to the pensioners.

Exactly, well the media can shame the manufactures all they want and if that pushes investors away, then it's on the manufactures and the environment they have chosen to foster. The funds job is to take care of it's members, bad press is a factor when considering an investment.

I will say, the members do have a right to convey their views on moral/ethical/values to the fund managers. However that's a conversation between the members and the fund managers.

Maybe you should check with your own pension plan before making snide remarks?

Investments should have ROI. Doesn’t matter what they manufacture or service they provide. Free economy to make money where there is demand.

Yes, they should invest their funds in any sector they feel will have good returns for their members. If A sector has moral, ethical, and or political issues accocated with it, then the fund managers should account for that in their decision making process.

This is a dumb question because many pensions are invested in the pharmaceutical and defense industries.
