This officer does not deserve to be vilified. In Orlando when 160 people were shot to death in a night club, it took a well assembled police fore 30 to 45 minutes to enter the scene. It is not prescribed police work to go charging into gun fire with out a plan or back up.

How could they not? Police had been to his house over 39 times...but they never arrested him, how can that be? And FBI had two warnings and sat on their hands.
-
What should they have done
-
Florida has a state law called the Baker Act, which allows a cop to have a person institutionalized for up to 72 hours for a mental evaluation. The report of that evaluation can then be submitted to a judge for further action.

And they visited his home 37 times. And then this kid qualified for a gun purchase. Everytime I see the chief of police talking about gun control I think of that. Failure by him.
-
He qualified for a gun purchase, because the police never arrested him or had a mental evaluation done under Florida's Baker Act. Either option would have likely resulted in a court record that federal law would have required reporting to the database used for gun purchases.
-
Sad he qualifed. 2 weeks wait time probably would have worked. Though criminals prefer black market purchases since there are 300 million assault guns in circulation. So we are fu//k Just like the environment around http://us.So it's your choice, soft Target or hard.
-
Two week wait would have done nothing, since he apparently started buying guns when he turned 18 (is now 19). It is now being reported that a relative called the sheriff's office a few months ago, asking that they take his guns. Obviously, nothing was done.
