No. Instead of doing his job and running in to protect the kids he run away. He resigned for a reason.

I thought cops were trained to call for backup and talk down a situation? Could be done from the PA in the office. You're a deputy with a 9mm; you hear assault rifle fire, and think, "That's not a shotgun or 9mm. crap" The fact his boss demanded he run in like a hero surprises me

I feel for the guy. Going in would have meant suicide, yet many are saying that they would rather have a dead hero than a living person.

Exactly! I drive a school bus, and I have a newborn. I am NOT trying to throw myself between a deranged shooter and their target just for the sake of "protecting innocent students." I will wave nearby panicked students away to safety, and then get outta dodge, not much else. :\

I think that the majority of teachers & staff are more focused on getting the children to safety & securing the doors to try & engage a deranged shooter. They have their own families to worry about, too!.

I drive a school bus. In Florida. The teachers I talk to don't want guns in the class. They don't want the kids to feel like they're in a prison with armed guards. They want more cops. A police substation within 'X' blocks of every school, things like that.

Yikes, what a coincidence of names. The sheriff just like Scot should be forced to resign because of his negligence.
