The deadly shooting in Parkland, Florida is raising new questions about school and government officials’ efforts to keep students safe. 33 states, including Florida, require every school or school district to have a comprehensive safety or emergency plan http://cbsn.ws/2o0Q9Nk pic.twitter.com/Et3hvssITy

I have an idea. It's kinda crazy, out there. How about sensible gun legislation? Comprehensive and detailed background checks? Or proficiency testing? Ya know, kinda like driver's license. Silly idea, no?

Government cares more about guns than children. @marcorubio has accepted $3,303,355 in donations from the NRA. That speaks volumes! I know who I’m voting against next election if he runs again

Hm, a great way to keep children safe at school would be keeping military grade weapons off the streets.

Students and teachers should not have to plan to protect themselves from weapons of war.

Every school in this Country, should be locked down during school hours. Nobody should be able to enter without identification and approval.

Gun sales will spike today. That’s the problem in a nutshell. Parkland demonstrates that all safety plans in schools do is provide a false sense of security. They had one. Didn’t matter.

All the emergency plans in the world mean nothing if we don’t regulate guns . At least background checks and no buying guns at gun shows .

Nothing can keep you safe when someone has the ability to gun down multiple people in a matter of seconds. The fact our country does NOTHING when our children are MURDERED is disgusting.

When will you guys get it straight? Focus on how we PREVENT these tragedies, not how to teach the kids better hiding techniques! This classic blame the victim logic.

Time to stop asking teachers to fix a problem created by Republicans in DC and state governments. Get the GOP out or surround each school with troops and barbed wire.

Should stop our it’s about me talk & start to discuss what things are proper social responsibility. Tear down hero’s statues, pointing out wrong! All attacks when we don’t like action, how about suggesting proper social action, like reporting really deranged personal actions!

"Emergency plans" are good -- strong preventative plans are better. They begin with quality faculty-student interpersonal interactions & the overall academic and social culture of the school. @NewsHour @Morning_Joe
