It’s a compromise, not a win, our kids continue to get saddled with debt. We just upped spending for defense and non defense AFTER lowering taxes (the revenue with which Congress works).
-
Not even a compromise, but a surrender.

Hollow words from an empty party. There is no win here for the Americans, you cowards. There is literally nothing that the death lords (GOP) can’t ask for that you won’t also give them a blank check for. This is pathetic, and you’re still convinced it’s your turn next?

If it's a plan concocted by Republicans and Democrats, it most certainly will not be a win for the American people.

A trillion dollar deficit added by this tax cut. Not to mention all the extra spending proposed for the wall, military, and upgrading nuclear arsenal. How are we going to pay for it? Millionaires pay politicians to make the working people pay.

Learn about MMT. The government can't default on debt in U.S. dollars because it prints dollars. What we should worry about instead is whether spending is inflationary and if could it be put to better use to build the economy:https://www.nytimes.com/2017/10/05/opinion/deficit-tax-cuts-trump.html …

"Lawmakers are obsessed with avoiding an increase in the deficit." If this is obsession, I'd hate to see disinterest. Kelton's analysis seems rich in fairy dust.
-
I think she's being generous in her assessment of those politicians sincerity but the basic points about how the government spends and what it means when they do are sound. We have a limitless supply of money, the problems we face are from how it's distributed and what it can buy

There's no question in my mind that fear mongering over the debt when it comes to programs that help the majority of Americans is about preserving the power of the rich to control our economy and our lives. They have no problem paying themselves while taking away our basic needs.
