Kudos to the officer for doing the right thing and telling the truth. Too many times the thin blue line wraps itself protectively around a guilty colleague instead of truthfully acknowledging mistakes in judgment or flaws in character.

It's a problem endemic in American law enforcement culture. This cowboy approach towards citizens is pathetic and unprofessional. Your police academies must properly train officers on how to diffuse a potentially explosive situation. This tragic pattern must stop.
