How can a shooting at a school be accidental? How is a gun even there?

A student brought it in apparently.
-
So I see. What amazes me is that the headline isn't 'Student takes gun to school'. That there was a shooting is almost inevitable after that.

It was one of those accidental shootings kids have at school in places like America and... America.

So, parents, why in the hell didn't you have your weapon secured behind lock and key? Prosecute the parents, counseling of the girl.
-
Presumably you can cite a law which requires it to be secured under lock and key? Might be important, seeing as how you're calling for them to be charged with a crime.
-
No, unfortunately. Just common sense to take preventive precautions. A part of parenting. She could just as easily shot one of them or herself. Why would a responsible parent not take precautions to prevent such outcomes? Yes, they should be held responsible.
-
So you can't cite a law which they violated, but want them prosecuted anyways? Brilliant. What have you done which isn't illegal, that you'd like to be thrown in jail for? If that's the standard you have for other people, I see no reason why the same standard won't work for you.
-
Prosecution was the only thing I could think of at the time. Occasionally I twitter like Trump: without enough thought. Got another suggestion? I'm open. But they really need to be held responsible in some manner. And the girl needs counseling, because this will be traumatic.

Yes, law or no law, any responsible parent should keep weapons secured. It obviously wasn't, since she brought it to school. She also probably wasn't schooled in gun safety or she wouldn't have dropped it in her backpack as if it were just a pencil case. I feel sorry for her.

And shot two people? This kid is just trying to desperately cover her tracks.

Same, getting a .22 as a kid is standard here
