#ChainMigration. It’s ending the concept of the#AmericanDream. It’s ending#FamilyReunification. Thank you. -
Ummm....no it’s not. It trying to get our illegal immigration problem under control. VERY different than people legally entering & staying in the US in hopes of the American dream. Go try to stay illegally in Canada & come back and tell us how it goes.
-
Chain migration, better known as "family reunification", is not illegal migration.
-
Try going to any other civilized country and staying there for an extended period of time because you have a family member there. Let me know how it goes...
-
That's why USA is not "any other civilized country"... we welcome everyone here.
-
Everyone IS welcome here. I don’t know what you people don’t understand about the difference ILLEGAL immigration and being a legal, contributing citizen.
-
YOU probably don't understand that "family reunification program" is LEGAL in this country. Just because you don't like it doesn't make it illegal.
-
Just because it is legal doesn’t mean that all people are entitled or have the given right to (most usually) not contribute to society in America just because they have a family member here.

Give it to him....but then after the November elections pull a GOP bait and switch & pull it all back, after the DACA recipients are safe. Dems have to start being devious like the Repuglicans. Stop being so honest and nice.
-

So wouldn’t The President’s own children and in laws that followed his wives to the US be examples of chain migration?
-
Not if they came legally
-
Chain migration is legal...
-
For now
-
And yet so many act like it’s already illegal just because they want it to be. Like reuniting families is somehow an evil we just can’t abide anymore.

please stop using the term "chain migration" that term does not exist in our immigration laws.
-
Agreed. It’s family reunification.

My clients who immigrate through the family petition system are hard-working, throughly vetted, and ineligible for means-tested public benefits. Their relatives must prove they can financially support them before they’re even allowed to come. So no, I didn’t misspell anything.

Not specific to my clients, though I was using my own experience as an example. This is how our existing family based legal immigration system works for everybody who goes through it.
