"Don't lose sight of the fact we're asking the military to work without pay. We're asking firefighters to work without pay. It's still harmful to the people," Mick Mulvaney says http://cbsn.ws/2DqxUKU pic.twitter.com/akujChkj5t
There was no reason to hold CHIP hostage either, but GOP did both.
Yes there is because the @GOP can NOT be trusted.
Just as there was no reason for a CHIP extension to be part of government funding extension. Rs held CHIP hostage for 4 months, planning to use it in this manner. And Mulvaney is complicit in this action.
Well, except that 9 out of 10 Americans want it enacted?https://www.google.com/amp/thehill.com/blogs/blog-briefing-room/news/369487-poll-nearly-nine-in-10-favor-allowing-daca-recipients-to-stay%3famp …
Says the guy whose party has held back the vote on CHIP, a program with bipartisan support, which creates net savings after 6 years, for four months, in order to use it as leverage in this debate. And if you had allowed a clean DREAM act vote, the Dems would have jumped on it.
So then we can do this show again in February? Congress has a bipartisan deal on immigration, includes DACA and border security and other GOP demands. Trump blew it up and gave no counter offer. Meanwhile, the DACA clock is ticking.
There is absolutely no reason to not allow a vote on a perfectly good bill that already has bipartisan support and to instead hold children's healthcare hostage for wall funding. #BargainingCHIP #RepublicanShutDown
@realDonaldTrump, the art of the deal, he shutdowns the government, bankruptcy is next.
absolutely,I agree with @CBSNews ,though @MickMulvaneyOMB is a good man,smart enough but #GovtShutdown blame to both parties & mostly to Pres Trump & admin policies & imbalance budget,unnecessary Govt spending,undermine #Healthcare & #DACA & #TaxReform responsible for #Shutdown..
Sure and we should just trust the GOP will do what is right, my name isn’t Susan Collins!
Then get GOP to do its job.
