This should be the head line: In 30 YEARS, not once did he get a green card or apply for citizenship! But, I'm confident he enjoyed not paying 30 years of taxes.

It’s fine. As long as his family file for his green card, he’ll be back in a matter of weeks or months.

I'm no expert but it said he tried for YEARS to gain status to stay legally and the article also stated he wasn't allowed back for 10 years. Just seems like the right intentions in the wrong place.

I didn’t know he would be banned for ten years. I believe that families should not be torn apart, and ten years is just ridiculous! Hopefully all the media coverage and celebrity pressure will allow him back sooner. My condolences to their family.

Allow me to fix your headline. A 39-year-old Detroit man who had lived in the U.S. (Illegally) for nearly 30 years has been deported to Mexico

I wonder the same thing. My first husband was here illegally (unknown to me when we got married). Within 3 months of being married, he had a green card and was legal.

He should have applied for citizenship being here that long. I don’t feel sorry for him! I married a European and had to go through the process!

Being caught in the middle is one of the sad results of being a Dreamer. The parents decided to enter illegally and, being a kid w/no say in the matter, he/she is brought along. Difficult situation.

Saw the report on CNN with @ChrisCuomo , sad. There should be exceptions in cases like this. The man is a contributing member to society. smh
