Pres. Trump's pronouncement of being a "very stable genius" prompted one Democratic lawmaker to unveil legislation requiring presidential candidates to undergo a medical exam and publicly disclose the results before the election. http://cbsn.ws/2ALmvPy pic.twitter.com/41QuHr89qb

Publicity stunt, our Constitution outlines the presidential election process & requirements - Congress has no power in this regard.

They also need to pass some kind of history test. A solid knowledge of the constitution and the words to "The Star Spangled Banner" should be required

Medical exams don't usually include psych exams. If we had historically been doing that, there would have been no Lincoln, Kennedy, Jefferson. And individual reactions under stress can't be predicted and that is when most cracks occur in the psyche.

Then should be by the same doctor, too. No personal physicians and no candidate staff going over the diagnosis before releasing results.

Why not, especially as the Commandor in Chief of all branches of the military. Especially, based on the responabilities and stresses of the Presidental position? Former President Roland Regan, a prime example.

Not all current laws are contained in the constitution. We could do an amendment, as well.

Correct, you’d have to amend the constitution to include such an exam and requirement to take it as a prerequisite to assuming office. Just like the amendment limiting presidents to 2 elected terms.
