They should have all walked out with that woman. What a shame they didn't. Now nothing will change.

Yup, and they all should have turned their back on that board first, stood there, and then walked out. It would have taken a militia to arrest all of them. Next time.

Even an educated white woman is not safe! We are under the illusion we are free to speak our mind, but we are not. Same old story. Woman speaks up to a man & is met with Violence. Now it's in the open for all to see. MOST TEACHERS ARE AFRAID TO SPEAK OUT!

What’s done to the least of us can be done to the rest of us. We’ve been on a slippery slope for a long time. No one is exempt.

PoC have told us this forever! Women have complained forever. They were dismissed. But now its up to college educated people! Which will not protect you from bullying (shut & up & sit down!) Or being manhandled by a Police Officer! Remember the Head ER Nurse?

Maybe a stupid question, but I am not from the US. Why was there a cop present at a school staff meeting? Is that common? And more in general I wonder why nobody in the audience came to her defence. It's supposed to be a democratic event, right?

Joska, I have no idea why a cop was there. I have been to many school board meetings and have never seen a cop. They are open to the public. People always had the right to speak without fear of arrest.

A lot of schools have “resource officers” but the school pays them not police station. I’m not clear if they have the ability to do everything a normal cop can though. This specific officer was there as a school employee. So he probably knew that teacher personally.

Oh, wow, mind blown by both the concept of special school officer and that he probably knew her personally... School seems like the last place you'd want to solve issues by using police.

The officers I had in school (each school had one) never really got involved with students as far as punishments went. That was the teachers place. They were they to protect the students.

The officers weren’t really used against students so most of us just considered them another member of the faculty. Like they would have their own versions of teacher’s pets. So they weren’t an intimidation tactic or anything threatening.
