when I was stationed in san deigo in the early 80's, they had storms on regular basis, extremely rare forest fires, barely a quake, no flood

I live in California from 88 to 2000. The weather was a lot less extreme back then. Never saw forest fires in orange county and San Diego the way we did this year.
