He is also dead in part because the police used excessive force against an unarmed citizen.

If someone dies, it's not a prank. It's an assassination attempt, and a successful one at that.

I can't even imagine the fear and panic this man felt after opening the door. The police even though it was a prank call need to be held acceptable. Not just written off by being sorry

Cops should just stop responding to all calls for 30 days... they are put in impossible situations all the time and face nothing but scrutiny.

Impossible situation? It was a reported hostage situation. They broke all protocol by engaging, and they murdered an UNARMED innocent civilian.

This is terrible on so many levels... but someone needs to explain to me how in the end an innocent man is dead from police using deadly force? Seriously... we have non lethal SWAT weapons... use them first before you kill someone you’re not sure did anything wrong. #Changes

"Prank." Yet cops are all in on shooting someone when they don't know what the situation is and haven't assessed it. Why do today's warrior cops always shoot first? Hell, our military doesn't use these ROEs.
