Why was she in a wheelchair on the escalator?

An adult with no diminished mental capacity makes a choice to do something on her own resulting in an accident that eventually leads to her own death. Now her family thinks someone else should pay for her bad choice. Greedy lawyer takes the case.
-
I would, too. Having requested assistancefor an elderly handicapped woman, it is negligent to let her wander off, in any circumstance. At minimum, they are required to see that she makes her way to the appropriate area unscathed. As a decent human being, I find that repugnant.
-
She declined the service and there is no indication that she was not in her right mind. So you would have the people who were hired to escort her force their services on her against her will. Is that what a decent human being would do?
-
The airline has stated that, "It appears..." Regardless, their obligation regarding the safety of that passenger doesn't end with, "I don't need you to push me around."
-
By the way, being "escorted" doesn't require that they do anything but track her movements. Yes. Decent humans do that kind of thing. Especially, for a fee/paycheck.
-
By declining the service she basically fired them. Their job was over at that point. Decent human beings respect others choices.
-
Sorry. That's up to the judge. The contract was not with the passenger, so your point is moot. And, really fucking heartless. I'd love to see you as defense counsel.
-
Freedom of choice is heartless now? According to your logic, if her family put her in a nursing home she would have to remain there against her will if she wanted to leave because the home was being paid. Personal responsibility matters.

Title does not reflect what actually happened. She wasn’t on the wheelchair when she fell down the escalator. She refused hired help and walked away then fell down the escalator. It’s a sad circumstance for all but people really need to stop suing over every little thing.
-
"It appears" is now "she refused". Any other presumptions you'd like to make on behalf of the defendants?
-
I just read another news report and thank you for correcting me. My bad!

-
My bad. I admit that I'd assumed you'd read what I had.

-
Alaska CLAIMS she refused. They were paid to escort her to the next flight. Fedeal law requires them to offer this service.
-
Agreed. Their contract wasn't with the grandmother. They were negligent when the service failed to be provided as expected.
