I get it! This is a postmodern statement asking us to reflect on the potential for the south to have been fighting for breast cancer awareness and the myopic lens of American history. The statue that lies beneath the pink paint reminds us that the past is embarrassing.

Personal opinions aside when are folks gonna be held accountable for vandalizing public property. If you look the other way for this you cannot prosecute for vandalism of any other sites, etc. Dangerous precedent.

Two wrongs never make a right. Vandalism sets a terrible example and solves nothing. Property should be respected no matter who it belongs to or what their beliefs are.

Slavery is not a belief. It is a plunder of d human body and spirit. Statues of confederacy soldiers were not built out of respect for African Americans. They were built to resist what was lost on d battle field. If you respect them, it means you respect slavery. #TakeThemDown

It's not about taking them down or not. It's how you go about it. There is right way and wrong way. Vandalism and destruction is the wrong way. You can't just destroy everything you disagree with or nothing would be left standing. Everyone has an axe to grind about something.

American civil war was fought from 1861 to 1865. Over d past 150 years, a small no. of people have chosen to resist d result. "If a law is unjust, a man is not only right to disobey, he is obligated to do so." Thomas Jefferson. I think we can apply the same to unjust monuments.

Let me get this straight. Your entire dissertation about justifying vandalism predicated on passion relevant to slavery is based on citing Jefferson a man who himself owned slaves. You can't have it both ways. It won't hold up in court either if arrested for vandalism. Nice try.

I read about someone who quoted Thomas Jefferson. HIs name is Martin Luther King. He used the said quote to justify civil disobedience. It worked.

The thousands of Americans who fought in WW2 never considered raising a confederate flag to signal a victory. The confederacy, its’ flags, and its’ monuments, are shameful symbols of brutal human slavery and they should be buried for all time. The KKK should be buried with them.

Seems the USS Columbia (CL-56) flew a confederate flag as a battle flag, during WW2 in the Pacific. After the battle of Okinawa, Marines raised a confederate flag over Shuri Castle.

The only flag I saluted during my four years in the USA Navy was the American flag. If a prankster ever put up a confederate flag, so what? It was just a prank and it didn't stay up long. 7000 marines died to raise the American flag on Iwo Jima.pic.twitter.com/ogrdcd6BUp

"The thousands of Americans who fought in WW2 never considered raising a confederate flag to signal a victory." But Marines apparently did, and left it up for 3 days. USS Columbia (CL-56) also used it as a battle flag during WW2, in the Pacific. Blanket statements are often false
