It is NOT to save battery life. This isnt the 1st time Apple has tried to ensure sales of new phones by crippling older models and being caught. This is a company protecting sales, and they need to be punished in a court of law.

Cough. Haven’t we suffered enough, with our phones, being slowed down for YEARS. Give your customers the damn battery replacement for FREE.

Ok, but what about providing replacement software that won't slow down iPhones? The key to apologizing is to make it right. Apple needs to make it right or shut up.

I had to upgrade my phone due to the slow down. Are consumers going to be compensated for purchasing new phones because of this?! My old phone was in perfect working order, just a slow operating system..
-
Same here. My iPhone 6 was showing a lack of space (& the used space “didn’t add up”) for 2 months. It also kept freezing up. 2 wks ago, Apple had to put the update on a laptop & then piecemeal it on to my phone. Problem solved.

I broke down & bought an Apple 6S two years ago at insistence of my millennial daughter so we could FaceTime. iPhone stinks & yes it has slowed considerably-I had a Nokia smartphone for 5 yrs-worked like a charm (& by the way battery was replaceable)-WILL NEVER BUY ANOTHER APPLE!

This isn't an apology. It is an extra $30 for Apple.
-
You do realize at cost the batteries are worth at $20 right? Not including shipping, taxes they have to pay etc. Also $29 is significantly less than $79 or an upgrade cost
-
For all the profits they make, this sort of "apology" isn't going to hurt their bottom line to any great degree.
-
Clearly you’ve never run a business nor had much business experience Giving away millions of something not hurting a bottom linepic.twitter.com/qiPi4b6Wdr

Apple is not some mom & pop operation. They make billions in profits. Offering something essentially at cost will not dig into their profits at all.
-
20 to29 is at cost

I asked them for the $80 back from the time I paid them to replace the battery, on my iPhone 6. That mysteriously started draining battery like crazy after an update. A week later the Iphone caught on fire.
