In the nation's capital, this charity serves hundreds of meals daily to the needy, operating largely through charitable donations. But under the new tax reform law, nonprofits like "So Others Might Eat" may soon be taking a big hit, @JanCBS explains.pic.twitter.com/GIMECPUo0C

We’re the richest country in the world. No one should go hungry here under any plan or leadership. Anything less is a failure of responsibility. That being said, I’ve only been feeding myself and my family. Is that wrong? Do we all have personal responsibilities for each other?

The way I see it is: if you're taxed to the hilt, a lot of your money goes to social programs. This is like forced charitable donations. If your tax burden lightens, it is the right thing to do to take care of your community.

But it shouldn't be both, overtaxed and expected to donate. I'm in a good spot where my taxes aren't too high and I have a little extra to donate so I do.

Those who give out of the goodness of their heart will, more-than-likely, still give. Only those who gave simply for a write-off (or those who have fallen on hard times) may stop donating.

I have never written off my charitable donations. It's always easier for me to just use the standard deduction. My guess is most people don't give enough to warrant itemizing their deductions. But businesses may be different.

CBS didn't seem to care when obama care made higher deductibles and higher premiums. That money could have been used for charitable deductions too but you have to crap on trump every day so no big deal right. When your not faking it you are bending left.

National @UnitedWay Chairman talks down future of charitable giving. Wrong approach, Unnecessarily negative! Highlight the significant work of charities & non-profits. Most plan to maintain or increase giving. I do. #TaxReform

Why? People should be giving from their heart & because they want to help, not just because they're getting a tax deduction! And, tax deduction is only a % which depends on your tax bracket. Opinion, misleading, negative story, but not surprised coming from biased CBS!
