Of course it will. This is the age of hidden fees and will be embraced as a valid business scheme by this corporate centered administration.

I work for a resort and I always found it to be crazy because people won't use our valet services or bell services sometimes, which is what you pay resort fees for in the first place. At least with our resort that's the case.
-
The thing is the resort fee does not pay for any of those services (wifi, valet parking, etc). That is a lie the hotel spreads to justify the hidden resort fee. The resort fee is a second hidden room rate and is taxed as such.
-
If the resort fee legitimately paid for services like valet parking or wifi, it would be taxed as a service at sales tax. Resort fees are taxed as a second room rate at hotel occupancy tax because that is what they are.
-
Ok fair enough. I don't mind being corrected. I've only been working in this industry for a year. Does making reservations through a 3rd party site have anything to do with resort fees?
-
Also, if it's a hidden fee, why do they tell the guests about it when they check in?
-
I have always paid in full in advance online for hotel rooms. That's usually how you get the best deal. That's why when it says "paid in full" and then you get to the hotel and have to pay $20-50 extra per day for the key in the name of a resort fee, it seems like a scam.
-
Oh I see. I can see how that would be a scam.

Simple Las Vegas does it. Most of liberal cities/towns. Would not stay in a resort fee unless I have to. Hell you get charge for parking as well

Great idea! Local and city governments and companies tag mysterious fees on bills.

Hotels claim they don't change sheets and towels to be 'green'. Do you believe that's the reason?
