You know the fire is headed for your area, you need to move ALL animals to safe ground. #Californiawildfire

This is sheer negligence IMHO. The owner should be tried in court -- allowing your animals to be burned alive when it could be prevented?? -This is worse than abuse.. He needs to see a day in court.
-
Maybe you've never seen how fast these fires here in my home state are moving, but they apparently had NO time to get all 60 horses out. They're friends of friends & they're devastated.
-
That doesn't fly with me. They knew in advance there were extremely hazardous and deadly wildfires approaching them - - so don't tell me they didn't "have time" to save their sentient animals. That's a pure copout.
-
Have you ever been to a boarding facility with 60 horses? Have you ever seen a wildfire move with 60 mph winds? I have. I've sat at a ranch waiting for a fire to get closer. There's no way that 10 of us could have saved 60 horses. It's heartbreaking but we weren't there.
-
You are so adamant about 'proving' they could do nothing, yet you finish with "we weren't there". So how do you know for sure nothing could be done? You don't - - but you still try and assert that u know. Do you see the fallacy there, or the flaw in logic? I really hope you do.
-
I'm not sitting in New Jersey. I'm here in California, witnessing the winds. I'm not trying to "prove" anything. I'm just offering another point of view. Another point to ponder, I just read a report from LA county, that stated the owners padlocked the stalls.
-
I'm sorry you have to go through the wildfire horror. "I just read a report from LA county, that stated the owners padlocked the stalls." -So, if the stalls weren't padlocked, - hypothetically - if they left it open, wouldn't that at least give the horses a chance? Or no?
-
They would have had a chance. Horses spook easily but they could run away. The first responders did their best to break down stall gates, but the roofs were collapsing on them. It's just a sad situation all around.
