More folks will be working, so less people will not need to be on it...

Right. That's why so many people working at Walmart are on food stamps and Medicaid in order to survive.
-
No, they're dependent on the gov't because they're allowed to be. Remove the entitlements and they'll still find ways to survive, just like we have for millennia without government's help.
-
There are only so many hours in a day and the human body and mind can only be worked so long before exhaustion and disease sets in. And not all who were poor survived throughout human history. Unless jobs pay more and education is more available, poverty will continue.
-
Poverty will always exist, in every culture. You can't prevent people from making bad choices. But we can stop encouraging bad choices. Eliminating welfare would do that.
-
What makes you think everyone on welfare are there because of bad choices?
-
Grew up poor in Appalachia. Lived for a decade in Gary IN. Volunteered in poor areas of Chicago for 10 years. I know poverty. Bad choices cause poverty. Now, whether people realize they're making bad choices or not, that's a discussion worth having.
-
So it's your fault you were poor? What did you do as a child to deserve such a fate?

If it is corporate welfare it will thrive. Peoples welfare will disappear!

Trump says ppl are taking advantage of the system, he should know. Using the presidency to line his pockets. Golfing every weekend on the taxpayers dime.
@realDonaldTrump is the big drain on society! - 1 more reply

You hit the nail on the head with that statement, sometimes it's hard not to think about the stupidity that's rampant in Washington DC.

Almost 80 Billion a year in fraud. Would love that. Having 6 kids by 6 different shitty fathers and grabbing a steak with a WIC card or worse selling the credits for drugs is ridiculous.

You could work at fast food restaurant a 100 hours a week and still not be able to make it. The problem is piss poor K-12 education, insanely expensive college, and general lack of opportunities. All this is going to do is drive people to homelessness.
-
Bullshit we all have the same opportunity
-
So, a quadriplegic has the opportunity as someone who's completely able-bodied. A poor, black woman has the same opportunity as a rich, white man?
-
Everyone might not have it as easy as easy as others but they mostly definitely have the same opportunities
-
You just contradicted yourself. That's like saying 2 people have same opportunity to water--despite one sitting next to a water fountain and the other sealed off behind a brick wall *near* the same water fountain. That's not the same opportunity.
-
Obviously you’ve never lived in a country where you literally do not have the same opportunity’s if you are a women or gay etc.. here you can be anything you want to be if your willing to work for it. Regardless of skin color, who you love or religious views.
-
You have a lot of living to do before you can say you can be anything you want..be realistic.
-
I am realistic and it’s sad you guys don’t believe in yourselfs
