"Deputies say she was walking in a field when a man hunting nearby mistook her for a deer and shot her once with a pistol Officials say the shooting occurred about 40 minutes after sunset, when it's illegal to hunt" More like a Hit-man for Hire, who hunts with a handgun? #murder

For those who don’t know, hunting with a pistol is legal in NY. Hunting 40 minutes after sunset is not legal for obvious reasons. Rule #1 for all hunters is be 100% sure of your target. This guy should be charged for this shooting based on time and distance no way could he ID 🎯

A half hour after sunset means there was no way the hunter could clearly identify *what* was moving. He was using a pistol so there was no scope. He was using the naked eye. At dusk.. I hope they charge with manslaughter. A family lost a loved one for his idiocy.

Couldn’t clearly identify? So why not err on the side of caution?

That is exactly what a hunter is supposed to do. Pull trigger only after you are sure.

No mistake. Always be aware of your target & beyond. Never move your finger anywhere near the trigger until identifying & being on target. Never point your weapon towards anything you don't want to destroy. No mistakes, ever.

Do you eat food? Do they grow your ground beef behind your supermarket? A deer taken quickly & harvested for food had a much better life than anything you bought in the store. Plus in areas of large deer populations in helps reduce humans being killed in car accidents.

Oh here we go again. This ahole who shot and killed that women was NOT hunting deer for food. He saw something move and took a pot shot at it. IT happened to be a woman. I've eaten venison. Tastes good. But now, no, I don't eat any meat. P.S. better ways to save deers from cars.

This makes me furious!! This happened to me when I was walking my dog at dusk in a local reservation posted NO Hunting! I saw the rifle flash and hit the ground so the idiot shot at my dog! Fortunately, cops were waiting for the poachers and they were charged. Scary shit.

He didn't get shot, thank goodness. It took me a while to find him though because he bolted through the woods.
