Why should she apologize? She makes a good point @gabrielledoug

I'm all for being classy but I believe the point of outrage comes because her statement once again puts the onus on the woman for protecting herself from sexual assault when men should knoe (or learn) how to control their hormones regardless of a woman's state of dress.
-
Do you get equally angry when someone says "don't leave valuables on plain sight on your car"? Fact: Rapists are notoriously perverted.
-
But rapists don't need a reason to be rapists. It's about power. Women who've been modestly or classily attired have been raped. It's not the woman's fault. Are you saying "she dressed that way so she asked" ?
-
It's never the woman's fault, not at all. It doesnt change the fact that a woman dressed in a provocative way is more likely to be assaulted. Rapists are perverts, they will rape a woman because how she is dressed.
-
But not all the time. In many instances that simply isn't the case — statistically. I'm not trying to pick a fight, I promise. It just upsets me that a woman's attire always makes it into conversations about rape/sexual assault when a man should take responsibility for himself.
-
Don't get me wrong, the rapist is at fault 100% of the time. My point is that it is wrong to ostracize someone who suggests dress can influence the risk. Gabby was totally okay to say what she did. Just like suggesting a home alarm system protects you from burglary.

Maybe she needs to grow up or learn that “ it is better to close your mouth and be thought a fool rather than open it and remove all doubt

Ton of posts saying how she shouldn't have apologized so put a different one to try to get different responses. What Gabby said was almost exactly what my mom said about this! People need to get over themselves and start facing reality.

She apologized which is good, but her first thought was what she tweeted, in other words she meant what she wrote.
-
I strongly disagree with what she initially tweeted, but I admit that I also saw the world in such simplistic terms when I was younger. She is still learning, just as we all are
-
I agree, she will grow.
