This General will be immediately replaced as he should be. He does not decide what response is legal or not. We the People chose our Commander in Chief and trust his actions past and future.

I’m sorry you feel that way. It wasn’t an attack on President Trump. You won’t find a different answer from any STRATCOM commander, and it very-much is their job to discern legal/illegal orders.... especially at that level of command with responsibility for Nuclear Weapons
-
Obey LAWFUL orders. The General's duty to discern what is a lawful order and act on his judgement. Dramatic representation would be the 90's movie "Crimson Tide".
-
A hesitation of a presidential order could spell the doom for the US....no general gets in the way of a decision from the Commander in Chief Unless violates passed law.
-
It only spells doom when you are talking MAD. It’s a pretty easy call when the STRATCOM cmdr sees an inbound nuke to the US or intelligence indicating an impending launch. That’s the point of Generals to give POTUD military advice and framework
-
From what I understand, the current protocol (POTUS, Football, etc.) is a carry over from the Cold War and 1st strike possibilities. Probably good to take a look at an update like the Senate is doing.

When he says, "Mr. President, that's illegal," Trump will say, "Yes, it is. Do it." The general will explain why it's illegal. Trump will fire him. Cycle repeats down the chain of command until Trump changes his mind or nukes are launched. I'm not betting on Trump backing down.

I'm hoping someone would tackle djt to prevent a nuclear war.

Disobeying an order from an insane ruler is not a coup. And democracy does NOT mean following the orders of one man. Checks and balances may have to happen at the human level because our system is failing.

Luckily, Trump is not all powerful, nor is any U.S. president. I find that comforting, not unnerving.

This... seems like an overly optimistic prediction of how the conversation would gopic.twitter.com/MjrqGRYYPH

"Will no one rid me of this meddlesome General?" seems more likely to me

It might be treason or he might of been elected president when we weren't looking or it might just be his last day on the job!
-
Yeah - that treasony thing, think you better point that in the right direction Sparky - you can’t throw a rock without hitting a bloody Russian in this administration - good lord, if this was a Dem, you would be burning them at the stake 11 months ago! Hypocrisy much?!?

Thank God for sane men!

A belief in something for which there is no evidence...is why there are so few"sane men".
