I watched a Vanity Fair Investigates on sexual assault in the military and was stunned by what the survivors went through. Docked pay, lowered rank, the sullying of their reputations. It was heartbreaking.

I was discharged from an “abnormal Pap smear” after I reported my rape. He was never disciplined.

After all the research I've done on the subject, I would have to agree. There was a soldier who almost died from the syphilis that she contracted from her attacker. He was promoted and she was dishonorably discharged.

It was awful to learn about but I'm so glad I did. I'm sorry for everything that you went through. It shouldn't happen to anyone, but even less so for someone who chooses to serve.
