1st interracial kiss on US TV (Kirk & Uhura) wasn't *that* groundbreaking because plot had them being physically controlled/forced to do it.

I agree and it was a fake screen kiss while white actors mostly kissed for real but it did open up conversation about relationships in U.S.
-
Yes. Spurred conversation at the time. For/against. However, it gets mentioned a lot by non-fans as groundbreaking when it pulled punches.
-
Whats funny is the most controversial black/white kiss was Sammy Davis Jr. and Carroll O'connor but most ppl today never heard of it.
-
Ah yes, I remember it well. That was a big deal at the time.

Now untie the show from your online platform and bring it to broadcast! I don't need/want another $5 a month service...

She isn't the first black woman lead on Star Trek. And, semantics time, she isn't going to be in Star Trek unless she has a time machine.
-
Only lead is the actual captain. Everyone else is secondary. The show is about a captain & their crew. By this definition, yes she is.

Explain to me why is it going to be a race thing with your TV channel. She's not the first female to lead a Star Trek series
-
Shes not the first black women to be on Star Trek either please give up the Race part of it.

Why is it always about race, gender, or orientation? Why not just celebrate her accomplishment of being a great actress
-
Why not let people celebrate seeing someone that looks like them, something you get to take for granted?
