I'm amazed that cars have a sensor that beeps if it thinks a front seat passenger doesn't have a seatbelt on, but not a kid left in back

In fairness, who doesn't realize they have a child with them?! A beep can't fix stupid.

It doesn't matter. As a mom, my focus is on keeping the kid alive. If a mom or dad is able to forget that-lets do what we can to remind them

No, if they can forget their kid, they don't deserve to have a child in the first place. Also, they aren't "forgetting" them. It's called M1

Having volunteered in my son's kindergarten, I see that there is clearly no prerequisite for procreating. You cannot police parental quality

But someone I'm supposed to be made to buy a car with a sensor because people are stupid? I'm not paying for their mistakes.

What's wrong with parents being responsible & using their brains? Hold people responsible & get heads out of phones. Use brain!!

Thought the same thing. They forget THEIR CHILD....a dinging alarm isn't going to do anything except add another noise that'll be ignored.

I just thought of a better idea! How about we take the kids away from a parent that leaves the kid in the car, a huge fine, and jail time?

That's the not the problem. If parent leaves kid in hot car, could you imagine all the other ways kid is mistreated, albeit not fatally.

It often IS the problem. An absentminded parent makes a horrific mistake. Anything that could help avoid it is surely a good thing.

Many of fatal cases are toddlers that can't walk in child safety seats. There something wrong if you don't care about helpless 7 month old.
