Personally would not want this woman teaching my child to be belligerent and disrespectful of law enforcement

EXACTLY! Teacher is nothing but a trouble maker.

The teacher is a low life trouble maker. She would rather cause trouble than to work together to solve any differences.

That's kind of a normal question that might be asked at a BORDER patrol station.

-
It wasn’t at the border.
-
It says "border patrol checkpoint"
-
And it’s not at the border.
-
Better look up the 100 mile rule, ACLU, and all this is within Government power. Right or wrong, BP can do this within 100 miles of border.
-
I know it’s legal, that doesn’t make it right.
-
It wasn't right for her to be so belligerent and confrontational. When a simple answer would have been the right thing to do.
-
FREEDOM!

What’s wrong? I’ve been stopped at “checkpoints” in lots of other 3rd world dictatorships. Only difference - this officer was sober.

Not a controversy at all. A man was doing his job, a lady decided to be stupid. Checkpoints are very common near the border. Do better CBS!

They can ask & detain but the law says a US citizen doesn't have to carry or provide fed documents about citizenship while in the US.
-
They can't detain without reasonable suspicion of a crime.
-
They can detain if citizenship can't be immediately proved. She was making a point by not saying so this case is different.
-
But not unless they have reasonable suspicion that someone is illegal. This isn't Nazi Germany. Don't have to show papers when requested.
