If he's served his debt to society, which he HAS, then you can leave "ex-con" off his description.

This was in my town. My kid's been trying to get him a job, posting about him in every neighborhood group. Amazing man.
-
Is it usually that hard for someone to get a job in your town?
-
I've never gotten a job in my town, but depending on your situation, I'd guess it can be tough. Limited jobs & limited public transport.
-
Oh? Ok. I hope he gets one asap!
-
That's great of your son. I too am looking for a job and it sure is handy to have friends helping find one.
-
I wish you luck. I know it's hard out there.

I see why everyone is upset with this but I think they wanted to emphasize that someone in his position didn't care about the job +
-
rather he wanted to save a life. Theyre not trying to throw him under the bus. Why would you care about the story if it was just some guy?
-
Because the guy saved someone from a burning car. Him being an ex-con gives no depth to the fact that he saw a problem and solved it
-
You're right. That's why I can see people are upset with it. It's understanding that someone in his position favoured saving a life over +
-
Going to a job interview to save his own life. Anyone can get a job interview but it's that much harder for an ex con
-
For that matter. CBS could've wrote, Jobless man skips interview...
-
Youre missing the point. It's not about dehumanising 1guy, it's about sending a message that ex cons are not that cruel as the name suggests
-
Did you read the article? Decent content. headline is bad. It was meant to attention grab, but it dehumanized him. I Didnt miss the point.
