Ignorance at work. Failure to recognize how a nation was reunited by its shared memories and suffering.

Jefferson Davis is a huge part of the souths rich history. Like it or not. I am not from the south but I respect Americas history.
-
One can respect American history without a constant reminder of the dark painful past it has for many of it's 'uncompensated' victims
-
Where does it stop? Shall we take down Jefferson, Washington Memorials? Change our money? Destroy the narrative of freedom?
-
I know where your coming from. American history is American history. A lot of people died making history. Let's not try and erase it.
-
Right. And those monuments were erected by a grieving ctry on both sides. Respect for shared suffering helped reunite nation.

Erasing history. What an embarrassment we are becoming.
-
It's an embarassment that we ever built monuments in honor of traitors.

From the Confederacy to Christ. That's quite a segue. The statue went up in the 1900s during white terror. To the museum!
-
you can't stamp out history just by hiding it
-
No one is trying to stamp out history. We want to put statues of traitors in a museum, not a place of honor.
-
You mean like George Washington and the other Revolutionists?

To those suggesting it's removing history, how is a statue history? It just a memorial to the past, and an offensive one at that.
