        My experience in the court system clearly favors clients with paid lawyers than clients with PD's. Sometimes PD's side with the AG's!!

        Studies show that with similar resources, PDs get better outcomes than private lawyers. Problem is we've never had funding/resource parity.

        It's just really sad that most of the inmates in RI are serving longer sentences than others because they couldn't afford fairness!!

        I attended a class that featured a documentary on this topic. Met a young man who served 15 years for a crime that did not take place.

        plea bargains engineered bc nola public defenders juggle an avg of 300 cases & are so underfunded that they had to reject cases last year
