@johndickerson You're wrong about Justice Brennan. Shortly before the 1956 presidential election, President Dwight D. Eisenhower used a recess appointment to place Brennan on the Supreme Court. Brennan won Senate confirmation the following year, 1957. McConnell has it right. -
He got Senate approval. He went before the Senate is the whole point. McConnell was trying to lie and ignore1956/1957 all together.
