Why sugar coat it? Reality is reality, that doesn't make someone racist. White neighborhoods are generally worth more because there is generally a lower crime rate. Not all but most. Want to change it? Stop all the PC shit and speak the truth
-
It’s the fact that black renters are paying more than their white neighbors, for indentical homes. Also the rental penalty they pay increases with the amount of white people who live in the neighborhood. They should be paying the same.
-
Well, they can always buy a home and then they can play landlord. I know we have decided who rents from us based on what someoen looks like when they pull up. Most people who are not huge companies running 100's of rentals do that. Looks are not everything but they matter
-
They shouldn’t have to.

Divisive and not true - just typical of CBS (emphasis on BS).

Dividing by racism is what CBS is trying to do. I’ve never rented or bought a house without knowing the price that was set either in the paper or online. Is there some other charges I don’t know about?

What cities/neighborhoods were included in study? Since it’s illegal to discriminate by color, have the landlords been reported? This article lacks so much depth it’s hard to take it seriously
-
Hit the RED word " Study" and you'll get some of your answers. I don't think the study was meant to call out any particular landlord or name any particular neighborhood by name. They're not there to enforce the law, they were there to conduct a study
-
I tried to research ‘the study’ and found very little info. The article makes serious claims and journalism 101 demands the article also address the ‘now what’ . Instead we rcvd crickets.
-
You have a slight point, but what could this studies suggest that is not already in place? Aside from follow the current rules and laws, which obviously a lot are not doing
-
Just to clarify, I’m not questioning the study, but rather the article written about it

Ok I guess I’m missing something here. Is the suggestion that a landlord gives black folks a different rate than white folks? Do black folks that visit a housing rental website see different prices than whites? They suggest the landlords are discriminating- how?
-
Is it not possible that a black person is WILLING to pay more to live in a predominately white neighborhood than the typical white renter is? I’m not understanding the mechanics as to how a landlord adjusts prices based on race?
