My daughter gets up at the same time whether we have school or not. Pushing back times won’t help us. It will just be more expensive because we will have to have childcare coverage for more mornings.

As long as parents have to be at work by 8 am, kids are going to be up early and dropped off at school, either for classes or before-school programs. Welcome to the reality of 2-income and single-parent households.

How do schools think that hours of homework, family, athletics / clubs and sleep - all after classes - is any form of reasonable? What are we building and teaching?

At least in the work force, a lot of people (not all) are done with work when they get home. They don’t HAVE to do hours more work and they’re not forced to participate in activities to boost their resume to get into college. It’s extremely stressful for students, and gets worse.

Any parent with a little more common sense and a little less ego should be able to see this. It’s a shame we do this to our kids. I always encouraged my kids to try for a club or sport but never pressured them.

Brilliant! Don't be a responsible parent and send your children to bed at a reasonable hour, no, that's dumb. Instead, pass yet another law, so that those spoiled brats get what their parents are failing to give them, sleep they need Here's an idea, pass a law on proper mannerspic.twitter.com/vIuQfY5R8k
