Ohhh...first I teared up while reading this story...then I felt such RAGE. I worked 12 yrs in an elementary school. I KNOW teachers see this when it happens. ONE of them should have notified Jamel's parents and school counselor AND the parents of the bullies themselves.

Oh my God. How is this happening. This little soul. Should be loved not bullied. Schools need to protect our children on their watch.
-
It's probably not the school's fault when the public doesn't demand and pay for a decent education system.
-
That is the adults jobs is to protect and give the kids back to their parents in one piece. The bus driver suppose to protect the kids and get them home safely. I do not understand what you are saying.
-
I am going to guess that no adult at that school witnessed any of this. Everybody makes it sound like it was happening in the middle of class. Most likely it was comments made while passing in the hall or message taped to a locker. There many ways this could have gone undetected.
-
I don’t know about every teacher.but, it definitely happens in class in front of the teachers and other students are laughing. The teachers say nothing. I know this bc it happened to me DAILY. I was mortified and alone!
-
It happened to me more than once in junior high school. I'm stronger in sticking up for others instead of myself. One junior hs teacher of mine stuck up for a victim of my own bully and told us that words can hurt more than hitting.

We need to change this Country before it's too late. Putin is tearing it apart through trump, bots, and a kompromised GOP. Their is so much hostility and division. Midterms are everything.
-
You are delusional on the root causes for decline of nation. We no longer have the fear of God which is the basis for all laws, civility, and love for one another. Now its a freefall spiralling down. Hang on. Prayer is your best bet.

Not touching this one.

This story is still sketchy to me . Why can't they describe how he killed himself

-
And exactly what details would you like to hear about a 9-yr old killing himself? Can't we just leave it at what we know now? So so sad. Heartbreaking.

As a paramedic one of my worst PTSD moments that I think about a lot is the 11 year old that hung himself. Even now over 7 years later I’m tearing up. I remember his pregnant aunt slipping in the stairs and thinking “I can’t deal with her, hope she’s ok”
-
It’s not just the families effected by bullying, or gun violence (just ask the sandy hook police officers that were first on scene). If you think we don’t carry those traumas, we do and some of us don’t make it out alive. Tragic for all.
