How sad-- he must have access to social media

No he didn't have to. I used to self harm back when I was only 9 or 10 without any access to social media nor knowing what self harming is. Social media promotes suicide but its not always the cause for someone to actually do it

God bless you may keep on living for the ages to come be chivalrous

Devastating story. It’s sad that people can’t live the lives they want to live without being bullied for it.

This is the reason I feel every parent or grandparent should have a 10min talk after school. "How did your day go? What happenened today? What did you do? "

Oh no!!!
this is so heart breaking. my heart and strength go out to this family. I am so so very sorry for your loss. It was hard being a kid in the 80’s-90’s but kids these days need more empathy. Kids are even crueler these days and every adult around them is to blame.Thanks. Twitter will use this to make your timeline better. UndoUndo

The parents of the bullies should always be responsible because they are teaching their children to hate people who are in the LGBTQ community
-
I mean, being straight or gay isn’t really something 9-year olds should be concerned with.

We have confused our children so badly. This was preventable. A nine year old does not need to know about sex, much less homosexual sex. I hold his parents and our educational system responsible. This is outrageous,
-
You're blaming the victims. And I damn well knew about being sexually turned on at that age, so it's actually extremely important that kids are aware of what it all means. The blame is on the bullies. Maybe their parents as well. But in no way should anyone blame the victims.
-
If you stick your finger in an electrical outlet, you is to blame for the result. Your right, the bullies bear the greatest blame, but I still feel that a nine year old does not need to be burdened with knowledge about sex.
-
Telling your friends that your gay shouldn't be the equivalent to sticking your finger in an electrical socket. It should be equal to talking about a cool movie... interesting, but nothing to be bullied about. And 9 year olds already know about sex, or at least sexual topics.

A 9-year-old boy felt that his only option to stop the bullying was to commit suicide? This is disgraceful that any child feels that is their only option.

We just spent 24 hours glorifying the war obsessed life of John McCain and we really wonder why these mass shootings happen? It ain't the guns folks. We glorify violence. We spend $700 billion on war. We spend $70 billion on education. Do the math.

This is sad, especially since school just started. Parents and schools need to do more to prevent this.
