That is appalling refusal to feed a child over .15 cents. The person who refused her should be fired.

Yes it happens all the time. Many schools have the same policy. The computer system won’t allow charging. I wouldn’t have taken the meal and thrown it out though. It is the parents responsibility to pay for lunches. Even if free and reduced lunches haven’t been approved yet.

It happens, but many schools have instituted a policy where they just tack on a sort of “tab” when kids are short so it doesn’t embarrass them.

School lunch is free in most advanced countries. But not if you cut taxes and give the money to people who don't need it. #NeverAgain

Cutting taxes is not “giving money to people” it’s simply taking less of the money people earn. It’s not for the government (or you) to decide how much of the money people earn they “need”.

Shame on the school for allowing this to happen..shame on forcing families to pay for breakfast/lunches at school. NO KID SHOULD GO HUNGRY....EVER!

Its that liberal mindset that feels like it's not their place to be charitable of their own free will and throw in a dime and nickel when their main objective is to give more power to government and just let them take care of it! Cause you know somebody had 15 cents and wouldn't

School lunch should always be free, for everyone. The money spent on administration deciding who qualifies for free or reduced lunch could actually "gasp" pay for actual food for actual kids. Imagine that. No shame. No one goes hungry. Better food because of a bigger budget. Win!

We waste enough money in Govt to pay for a lot of things we want to be "free". This is why I am not beating the drum for more taxes. For what? So they can have more money to waste. Call me cynical but Govt will rarely do right w/our $$$. This kid should have gotten lunch! PERIOD

I want the 1% to pay more taxes. I want my taxes to pay for people, not war. I want things that people need to stay alive should be non-profit (think prescription medication and healthcare), no one should make a profit incarcerating children or their parents. I could go on and on
