Shameful comment.

Agree. Ridiculous comment.
-
How is the comment ridiculous? America was literally built off the backs of slaves followed by Jim Crow segregation. What's great about a society built on oppressing others? Don't assume a comment is ridiculous if you have no understanding of historical events.
-
You mean including MY ANCESTORS? Don’t assume things about people you don’t know. I’m black. I’m American. I’m a history buff. I’m the descendent of slaves. And, despite all her faults and all the sins of history, America is still a GREAT country.

The slave trade was NOT something that anyone should celebrate, understate the cruelty of or whitewash in any way. It was the most widespread, systematic example of human trafficking in the history of the world. Children were ripped from parents. Husbands were taken from wives.
-
It was one of the most cruel, damaging and horrific episodes in American and European history. And if you disagree you should study more about it. Recognizing slavery for the evil that it is isn’t a left or right issue. It’s a human issue.
-
I love this country. I’m proud of what this country has overcome. I have a problem with people saying America isn’t great. But all of these sentiments are IN SPITE of this sinful part of our history. Not because of it.

But Trump, implying that the US was not great and that he would fix it, was just fine?

In a way,
@AndrewCuomo is right. How can we claim America is so "great" when we're so far BEHIND other "great" countries in: Healthcare Murder Rate Education Happiness Index Listen to#AndrewCuomo's speech. He says that for America to reach greatness, we need more engagement. -
The way you get more engagement is get the people off the governments tit and then they will get involved because they need to know what’s going on in a day to day life in order to make it in the world
-
Engagement has nothing to do with receiving government assistance. There are plenty of grandmas and sick elderly people and handicapped people who are engaged. Engagement has to do with involvement.
-
Since you're all hot-and-bothered about government assistance: "The person who the GOP featured in their tweet about unemployment is apparently unemployed, has filed bankruptcy (twice), was charged with a class H felony for welfare fraud, and..."https://www.independentpressjournal.com/2018/05/08/is-gop-using-an-unemployed-felon-to-showcase-low-unemployment-numbers/ …
-
I like government that is seen and not heard they work for us and the less they are involved in my day to day life the better off all motivated individuals will be.

He must have been thinking of the nearly 2000 “structurally deficient” bridges in NYS, the failing NYC subway system and the billions of $ he spent unsuccessfully creating jobs in NYS. Yeah those have been not so great. But the perverts and inmates can vote. Embarrassing

It hasn't been great since November 9, 2016.

No, that LONG national nightmare ended on 1/20/2017, and now has nearly been totally scraped from history, like a festering, smelly sore.
